Anna M
Job title
Charity Coordinator
Time at the Foundation
I joined the Charity Team in September 2022 but previously worked in store for 7 years and was also a health checker.
Quick summary of your role
I have a few roles within the Foundation such as building and maintaining the relationship through our Community Partner Programme, supporting with the Blue Cross food bank project and ensure our stores are up to date with their adoption centre rehoming licence. The licence is essential to ensure pets in our adoption centres which can be found in store then find new homes, and I also support Emma with the overall welfare of our pets. Additionally, I get to visit rescue centres/charities applying for grant applications so we can learn more about how they operate and what they do
What do you love most about working at Pets Foundation?
As my role allows me to work closely with multiple charities and organisations through our Community Partnership programme, I love getting to see firsthand the difference we can make.
What pet do you have at home?
I have two Staffordshire bull terriers Luna and Nellie, and two horses Wonky and Brown Boy as well as a tropical fish tank!
What’s your favourite type of pet?
I honestly can’t say I have a favourite as I love them all for individual reasons. I have previously owned a cat, rabbits, guinea pigs’ hamsters and degus, the list is never-ending! I do however have a very special place in my heart for Wonky as he’s been with me since 2008, as I got him as a 4 year old, so I feel like we have done a lot of growing up together.
What is your most memorable rescue experience?
My horse Brown Boy is from Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary in Liverpool. I worked and volunteered there for a long time and keep in contact with the people that are still there as well as popping in when I can. To see any animal that has been waiting to find it’s forever home for a long period of time get that opportunity is always heartwarming for me.
What are you most excited for this year at the Foundation?
I always look forward to Santa Paws as the Foundations biggest fundraiser, and now that the Community Partner programme sits with me, I’ll be closer than ever to it! I used to love getting involved when I was in store so supporting from this side is always great fun!
Where are you most likely to be found in your job?
I’ll always have a cuppa close by, but I’ll be in the office or working from home with Luna especially by my side! Supporting charities with any queries they have is always my main focus of the day as well as supporting with building that relationship between our stores and their Community Partner.
