Amy and her Jackapoo dog Bonnie

Amy Cooke

Job title
Fundraising Coordinator
Time at the charity
I joined the amazing Foundation in November 2022! Before that I worked in the Stockport Pet Care Centre since 2019.
Quick summary of your role
I organise and support with lots of different fundraising activities, including our lotteries, raffles, charity sales and challenge events, such as Half Marathons, Skydives and sponsored Charity Haircuts! I also help to support our Pet Care Centres to ensure they have everything they need for our in-store fundraising activities, like our flagship appeal, Santa Paws.
What do you love most about working at Pets Foundation?
I love being a part of an incredible team of 12. All the team work so closely together and we celebrate everyone’s achievements, so we are reminded every day of the amazing impact that the Foundation has on pets and people. No two days are the same with the Foundation, and I really enjoy having an input in a variety of fundraising events! It’s also nice to get out of the office and visit the rescues that we support, to see our impact on the incredible work that they do every day.
What pet do you have at home?
As featured in my photo, I have a 3-year-old Jackapom called Bonnie! She is a cross between a Jack Russell and a Pomeranian, but she looks just like a mini fox! I also have a 10-year-old German Shephard cross Husky, called Rambo. They are completely inseparable!
What’s your favourite type of pet?
Very predictable… I love all pets, but above all I am a huge dog person! I love meeting all the hard working, 4-legged colleagues in the office.
What is your most memorable rescue experience?
I had my first rescue visit with the Foundation during my second week here! We went to visit Carla Lane in Liverpool to see the amazing fostering and rehoming work they do with rescue pets. Meeting all the rescue cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes has really stuck with me. Since then, I have had the chance to visit so many more incredible rescue centres and foster homes, and I’m always so amazed by each one.
What are you most excited for this year at the Foundation?
Since the success of the recent 2023 Manchester Half Marathon, which raised over £8,800 between a team of 49 runners, I’m excited to organise more challenge events, whilst raising incredible amounts for the Foundation. I’m also really looking forward to finishing an amazing year of fundraising with our Christmas Fair, along with our Santa Paws Appeal.
Where are you most likely to be found in your job?
When I’m not getting distracted by all the four-legged friends in the office, I’m most likely a few coffees in and planning another exciting fundraising activity!
