Pets at Home colleagues swapped their beds for kennels and sleeping bags as they took part in our first ever Snores for Paws challenge, raising more than £10,000 for Pets Foundation, with the campaign remaining open for donations until 23 September.

Held at Carla Lane Animals in Need, the unique fundraising event gave participants the opportunity to spend a night in kennel blocks, offering a small glimpse into the reality many rescue pets face while raising funds to support the Foundation’s work.

More than a year in the making

The idea for Snores for Paws was inspired by the incredible support colleagues continue to show for Pets Foundation. Fundraising Coordinator Amy Cooke wanted to create an event that was closely connected to the Foundation’s purpose and the animal welfare organisations it supports.

“We wanted to design an event that was unique to the Pets Foundation’s purpose with a direct link to the work we continue to do,” said Amy. “By giving colleagues the chance to experience one night in the life of a rescue pet, we hoped that this would help colleagues to feel inspired to continue supporting us so that we can help to make a difference.”

While the challenge itself lasted just one night, it was the result of more than a year of planning, with the initial proposal developed in September 2025.

A memorable night at Carla Lane

Throughout the evening, participants heard from both Pets Foundation and Carla Lane Animals in Need about the challenges facing rescue and rehoming organisations, and the vital role fundraising and partnerships play in helping pets in need.

One participant, Tracy, described the experience as both memorable and meaningful.

“Spending a night at Carla Lane Animal Rescue for Pets Foundation’s first Snores for Paws event was an unforgettable experience. There wasn’t much sleep, there were some snores, plenty of animal chatter, and a lot of love, but knowing we were helping pets in need made every minute worthwhile.”

Amy hopes everyone who took part left feeling proud of what they achieved together, while gaining a greater understanding of the challenges many rescue organisations face every day. She also hopes the event helped shine a light on the importance of the Foundation’s partnerships with charities like Carla Lane Animals in Need, which are helping pets across the UK get the care and second chances they deserve.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Amy said:

“Organising this event and taking part alongside such dedicated colleagues makes me feel really proud of what we all continue to achieve together. Although it was just one night sacrificed for us, and over a year of planning from me, I’m so proud that we have been able to make such a positive impact on countless rescue pets’ lives, giving them a second chance.”
