Roger’s Big Smile Says It All 🐾

Meet Roger — a cheeky, big‑grinned staffy cross who’s now loving life in his new home. But before he was adopted, he needed a little help from the team at RSPCA Preston & District Branch 💙

On one of his off‑site walks last summer, staff spotted that Roger had begun bleeding from a paw injury. With temperatures soaring to 28°C, they needed to get him to the vet quickly and safely.

Thankfully, the branch had just purchased a brand‑new, air‑conditioned animal ambulance.
with the funds from our £40,000 grant. Roger became one of its first VIP passengers, settling into his crate, staying cool, and being whisked straight to the RSPCA vet in Salford for treatment.

He was back at the centre the same day, tail wagging… and soon after, he found his forever family 🙌🏻

Animals In Need Northamptonshire has created a home‑style garden studio, changing the rehoming journey for rescue dogs, with support from our £20,000 grant 💚

Designed to reflect real home life, the studio gives dogs valuable time away from busy kennels in a calm, comfortable environment. With sofas, rugs, toys and everyday household sounds, dogs can relax, build confidence and interact one‑to‑one with staff or potential adopters, helping their true personalities shine through.

The space has already made a meaningful difference for dogs who had never experienced home comforts before, including puppy‑farm survivors, retired greyhounds and a welfare case who had spent her life tied to furniture. By learning to enjoy human company, move freely and settle in a home‑like setting, these dogs were better prepared for life with their new families.

The studio also allows adopters to spend quality time with dogs during bad weather, offering a clearer picture of how relaxed and affectionate they can be, away from the distractions of the kennel.

“Seeing dogs who once avoided contact relax beside someone on a sofa is incredibly rewarding. This space helps them feel safe — and helps adopters see the dog they could welcome into their home.” — Animals In Need Northamptonshire team
